Vasco police on Thursday attached a tanker that was allegedly involved in short supply of petroleum products.
It may be recalled that the tanker (GA-02-T-5288), which was moving suspiciously, was detained by the officials of HPCL, BPCL and ZIOTL on April 27 while they were checking the pipeline from the harbour to ZIOTL, Zuarinagar.
The inspection was conducted as the officials of HPCL were getting short supply of petroleum products while discharging it from the harbour to ZIOTL tanks.
According to Vasco police, on receiving information that the tanker was parked at Zorint, they rushed to the site and seized the vehicle.
When asked whether they had tested the sample, police said that they are yet to send the sample for testing as tanker nozzle was locked. Vasco police is further investigating in the case.
Meanwhile, this correspondent had inadvertently erred in mentioning that a garage at Alto-Dabolim, which was raided for illegal storage of petroleum products on Thursday, was located on land belonging to the Chicalim communidade. The land in question actually belongs to the Sancoale communidade and this was confirmed by one of its members, Pratap Mardolkar.
