TIVIM: Tension prevailed at a school in Siolim on Wednesday morning, after the school headmaster remained absent with the keys, forcing all the students and staff members to sit on the road till afternoon.
According to Anjuna Police, the school peon complained that the headmaster, who has been suspended from his services by the Director of Education on February 22, called him to the school on Tuesday at 7 am. However, when the peon refused to listen to the headmaster, he was allegedly abused and assaulted him with slaps and the headmaster even threatened to kill him.
Acting on the complaint, the police rushed to the school, but the headmaster avoided the police by taking shelter of the students.
Sources informed that the ex-headmaster, who is in possession of all the school keys, remained absent on Wednesday, forcing all the students to sit on the road till afternoon. Even the school management could not do much, while the education officials from Mapusa, who were informed about the situation, also rushed to the school.
Meanwhile, the ex-headmaster has applied for an anticipatory bail and police have registered an offence and is investigating the case.
