SIOLIM: Neither the stakeholders nor villagers from Oxel, Siolim were consulted before preparing these Coastal Zone Management Plan and maps.
Seventy villagers and stakeholders including the members from the village panchayat of Oxel Siolim were present for the CZMP awareness meeting at held at the Oxel-Siolim panchayat hall on Wednesday.
The Goencho Avaaz Executive core member, Roshan Mathias gave a presentation on the CRZ notification, CZMP and map.
“The village has to get together and check what is there and missing in their maps. I have explained how the CZMP is done and should be marked as per the 2011 CRZ notification. People are upset that no hazard line is marked. Fishing villages are not marked properly. The entire wall along the river bank is not featuring as a sea wall. I have also highlighted the various factors that need to be included in the plan,” Mathias said.
“There is no consistency in the plans prepared across the various villages. The disaster management plan to be prepared by the state has not been done and requires to be incorporated in the CZMP. The panchayat will pass a resolution and have a special gram sabha to discuss on this topic. Village boundaries are not marked appropriately as done in the Regional Plan 2021,” he added.
