PANJIM: Pernem Police arrested six person accused for illegal sand mining at Terekhol River, Porascadem. During the raid two canoes were also seized from the rivers which were being used to extract sand.
Pernem Police inspector Jivba Dalvi said the approximate value of the seized property including canoes is Rs 4, 50,000. The Pernem Police has written a letter to the Captain of Ports (CoP) to verify and for cancellation of the license issued to both canoes and to initiate action against the owner. Director of Mines and Geology asked to take custody of the seized property.
