PANJIM: Six ecotourism areas for Goa have been notified as per the Regional Plan 2021, which is currently in force.
According to replies given by the Chief Minister to Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte’s question, only hotels and resorts are permitted under eco tourism.
In another reply to Vishwajit Rane’s question, Parrikar has said that two projects have been cleared under eco tourism between March 1, 2012 and February 28, 2013. However in the annexure, the department has supplied details of four projects, two of which are approved by the TCP.
Leading Hotels Ltd is developing a resort, golf course, garbage management site, disaster management facility and a primary school at Tiracol, Pernem, on a 9.9 lakh square metres area. Of this 40,000 m2 is permitted built up area and 9,800 m2 building is permitted for community facilities.
Ardent Infrastructure and Developers Pvt. Ltd is developing an Eco-Resort project and Spa, at Loliem, Canacona on a area of 2.79 lakh sq m with a permitted built up area of 26,026 m2.
RDMK Real Estate has applied for an Eco-Tourism Project at Loliem, Canacona on a 2.49 lakh m2 area of with a permitted built up area of 19,986m2. The approval for this project is yet to be communicated, although the Town and Country Planning Board has already recommended approval.
Gold Resorts and Hotels is planning an Eco Resort also at Loliem, Canacona on a 10 lakh sqm area with a permitted built up area of 39,553 m2. The TCP Board approved the project, but it was decided to place it before the board again and at present a Technical Sub-Committee has to study the matter and submit its report.
