PANJIM: The officials of Tourism Department on Wednesday demolished illegal shacks at Calangute and Candolim. Five illegal shacks were demolished at Gaurawaddo in Calangute and one at Ximer in Candolim.
“In wake of violation of the norms laid down in the terms and conditions while allotting shacks to the operators, the Department of Tourism demolished illegal shacks today under police protection,” read a press statement issued by the department.
The department will continue the demolition drive as, it said, the government is very serious on clamping down on illegal shacks.
