PANJIM: Revenue Minister and Panjim MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate has asked the citizens of the city to have some more patience as the ongoing Smart City works will take some time to be completed.
Speaking to O Heraldo, Monserrate said, “Work has already started. It is not only in Goa but elsewhere as well. I was in Mumbai and Smart City work is going on there too. Roads are dug up there also. We need to have some patience. Yes our roads are narrow and that is the reason that people are facing inconvenience.”
However, Monserrate suggested that in view of the works undertaken under Smart City projects and roads dug at different places across the city, there is a need to have a new traffic system in place.
“Actually our traffic management is not correct. Earlier roads were made one-way to ease traffic but now when works are going on at different places, vehicles from both sides should be allowed to ply. However, it will take some more time but things will come to normal,” he said.
As the Smart City work is progressing at snail’s pace, the residents of the capital city have complained of immense hardships. Business community too had expressed its disappointment and complained of decline in business.
