BICHOLIM: The ex-chairman of Sanquelim Municipal council, Dharmesh Saglani has asked the local MLA, Dr Pramod Sawant not to play politics and follow the mandate given by the people of Sanquelim.
Saglani was today speaking at a press conference held at Sanquelim after ‘rumours’ that the MLA was trying to form his panel and prove majority in the municipality by all means.
It may be stated that during the recently declared SMC results Saglani’s group – Together for Sanquelim   had bagged 7 seats while there were three independent and three BJP candidates who were elected. All the three independent candidates reportedly supported Saglani thereby taking the number to 10.
“Now the elections are over and so the MLA should think about development and stop playing politics.” Saglani said. He thanked the people of Sanquelim for voting his panel to power and said that his group will always work for development.
He said they have not yet decided as to who is going to be the chairman and the vice chairman but it will be decided after discussion when the time comes. He also warned that if the MLA tries to woo his candidates he too would play politics and would reduce his candidates from three to two.
