Sonia picks Luizinho to represent Congress at Mother’s canonisation

Ex-Goa Guv Margaret Alva to join GPCC president on Sept 4; Sonia Gandhi informs Pope Francis officially

MARGAO: The Congress President Sonia Gandhi has chosen the Goa Congress president, Luizinho Faleiro to represent the All India Congress at one of the most high-profile and significant world events, to be held this weekend, the ceremony of canonization of Blessed Mother Teresa into sainthood at Vatican city.  
The GPCC president, along with former Goa governor Margaret Alva, will be Sonia’s official representatives, at the Vatican on September 4, since the AICC president will not be able to travel on account of her ill health.
Herald has learnt from its sources in Delhi that Sonia has communicated to His Holiness Pope Francis that if she had been well, she would have travelled to witness the sacred ceremony. Her communication states that Luizinho Faleiro and Margaret Alva will represent the Congress at the canonisation ceremony.
Mother Teresa, founder of the Missionaries of Charity and known for her work and assistance to the poorest of poor across India especially Bengal will be declared saint at the Vatican by Pope Francis on September 4, 2016. Thousands of Goans and huge numbers from Bengal and across India are travelling to the Vatican this weekend to witness the canonization of Blessed Mother Teresa. 
Died on Sept 05, 1997, Blessed Mother Teresa will follow recently canonised St Joseph Vaz and St John Paul II.
