PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar led the State in unfurling the National Tri-colour and presented awards during the State level function of the 69th Independence Day at the Old Secretariat in Panjim. He later reviewed the guard of honour presented by the Goa Police.
Superintendent of Police (Anti Corruption branch) B F George was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
George was recipient of Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for Meritorious Services in 2007. He commenced his career as a Police Sub-Inspector and subsequently was appointed to the Goa Police Service Cadre through competitive selection to the Post of Deputy Superintendent of Police by Goa Public Service Commission. He has served in various capacities as Dy Superintendent of Police and later Superintendent of Police. He has also served as SP North and as ADC to the Governor.
Parsekar also honoured Johnson Fernandes, Sub Divisional Officer of Ponda for Meritorious Services and presented the President’s Fire Services medal for Meritorious Services to Sub-Officer Arjun Shankar Parab, Leading Fire Fighter Bhalchandra Velip and Driver Operator Rama Damodar Naik.
