SP makes surprise visit to tourist spots in Sattari

Directs police to monitor sites to prevent unruly visitors from causing nuisance

VALPOI: Taking serious note of the complaints by locals, North Goa Superintendent of Police Chandan Chaudhary made a surprise visit to two popular tourist spots at Mhovacho Guno in Sonal and in Bhironda villages and directed the local police to monitor the sites to prevent unruly visitors from causing nuisance.
SP Chaudhary visited the spots at Mhovacho Guno in Sonal and river at Bhironda and stated that nuisance would not be tolerated at these sites, while appealing to locals to alert local police regarding any untoward incident.
The two spots have become popular among visitors in recent years with people from across Goa visiting the rivers for picnics.
However, locals have complained that after getting intoxicated, many visitors become unruly and cause nuisance in the area. A few days ago, some visitors had caused a nuisance and when locals confronted them over their behaviour, the visitors clashed with the locals.
The angry locals then marched to the Valpoi police station demanding action against the unruly visitors.
Taking serious note of growing anger among the locals, SP Chaudhary visited both spots and directed the local police to take measures to ensure that visitors do not cause a nuisance at the sites.
With the commencement of rains, SP Chaudhary also instructed the police not to allow tourists at the sites during the rains as they could be in danger of rising water levels.
The SP assured that even after the monsoons, a vigil would be kept at different locations to prevent the visitors from causing nuisance.
