PANJIM: Speaker Rajendra Arlekar on Monday admonished MLAs to maintain decorum and a sense of propriety, both in words and actions, both inside the assembly, as well as outside.
Arlekar was referring to Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai‘s comments made during the meeting of his organisation ‘Goemkar’, at Margao and reported by Herald on January 16. Sardessai had allegedly said an RSS Pracharak had directed Speaker Rajendra Arlekar not to allow too much time to Sardessai and Congress spokesman Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco in the Assembly.
“It is important that MLAs, especially new MLAs, maintain a sense of propriety both inside as well as outside the House. The comments made by one among us, Vijay Sardessai, which appeared in Herald dated January 16 wherein he has said that an RSS pracharak has approached the speaker not to allow Sardessai and Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo,are not in good taste,” Arlekar said while indicating that he was not taking the issue forward, but MLAs should conduct themselves in a better manner.
