OLD GOA: The new managing committee of the Corlim Comunidade is working out ways cultivate its fertile fields, either by leasing it to the government or to private organizations, for the benefit of tenants and the comunidade.
Speaking to Herald, newly elected president Inacio Pereira said the comunidade fields have not been cultivated over the years due to non-availability of labour and high cost involved in the cultivation process.
“We may have to think of some alternatives to put this high fertile fields into mechanized cultivation either by leasing it to the government or private cooperative organizations, so that the tenants and the comunidade can reap the benefits,” said Pereira.
Added the communidade attorney, Baptist Pereira, “In today’s world, land is as valuable as gold and it is for the new managing committee to keep a track on illegal encroachments which have been come up on comunidade land.”
“We will see that all illegal encroachments are removed by our committee,” added the attorney.
Meanwhile, Inacio Pereira was unanimously elected as president of Corlim Comunidade, while Baptist Pereira was re-elected attorney and Orlando Caido was elected treasurer, at a special meeting to elect the new managing committee of the Corlim Comunidade.
Escrivao Pandurang Parab conducted the elections for the new managing committee of Corlim Comunidade.
