PANJIM: The State government has commenced a comprehensive survey where they are trying to identify those families, who lost a family member that was the sole breadwinner of that family, due to COVID-19.
The survey is expected to be completed by September 6, 2021 and is being undertaken by the Department of Social Welfare in view of the devastation caused by the Covid pandemic in Goa.
For this survey, the government has engaged the services of all the counsellors associated with the Directorate of Education, Directorate of Women & Child Development, Directorate of Health Services and other such government departments. The counsellors are expected to visit the families and collect the relevant data within the stipulated time frame.
Incidentally, this scheme comes on the heels of the recent decision of the State government to give government job appointments to those families, who lost a family member, who was the sole breadwinner and was working with various government departments.
