PANJIM: Goa’s history, culture and tradition along with Yoga will soon be part of school curriculum as BJP-led State government proposes to introduce more topics.
The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in his State Budget 2022-23, presented in the House on Wednesday, also spoke on tracking student’s performance from pre-primary level onwards.

“I propose to introduce more topics in the school curriculum which will focus on the history of Goa, its culture and tradition and Yoga,” Sawant said in his speech.
He said that the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP), which will be implemented from the coming academic year, speaks about tracking of students.
“As part of this tracking, registration of all pre-primary schools shall be made mandatory and every student shall be tracked from pre-primary level,” he said.
Sawant said as part of implementation of NEP, to boost research and innovation in the educational sector across the disciplines, Government will establish a “State Research Foundation” for which provision of Rs. 6.50 crore has been earmarked.
The government also intends to establish ‘State Education Technology Foundation’ to encourage all higher education institutions and teaching faculty members to use the latest educational technology in a big way, which will certainly enhance the quality of education, teaching, learning and evaluation in consonance with NEP.
He said that the government will frame a dedicated policy and implement a programme to develop academic leadership in the state of Goa. The Govt intends to host Massive Open Online Courses for which, a provision of Rs 5 cr has been made.
