VASCO: Mindful of the blockade by All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), vegetable and fruit vendors from Vasco claimed that they have sufficient stocks for the next 15 days.

Speaking to Herald, the vegetable vendors said they received fresh stock from Belgaum and Ghataprabha on Thursday morning.

The vendors said some vegetables like lady fingers, French beans, carrots, leafy vegetables and chillies will last for the next 10-15 days, while adding that they have enough stocks of onions, potatoes, tomatoes and other vegetables which will last for about 15-30 days.

However, they hoped that the stalemate between the State government and AIMTC will be resolved soon.

While the blockade by transporters has caused concern to the vegetable traders, the fruit vendors seemed unaffected by the stir.

When contacted, the fruit vendors said except for watermelons and Chikoos almost all the fruits come from Mumbai by bus.

“The stocks of watermelons and Chikoos will last for about 15 days,” added a fruit vendor.
