Surprise check held at Margao Railway Station

MARGAO: The bomb disposal squad along with sniffer dogs and police authorities descended at the Margao Railway Station on Sunday as part of a surprise check to find out the alertness of the authorities at the station.

Besides officials of the Railway Protection Force, DySP Mohan Naik, KR police PI  Santobha Naik, Margao PI Sudesh Naik, KRC station master, and other officials of railways and police were present during the search operation which began at 10.20 am and lasted for over an hour. 
The exercise was carried to check the alertness of local authorities in the event of an assault by terror outfits.
Recently, the Goa Director General of Police (DGP) T N Mohan at a review meeting held on December 18 to review security situation attended by Inspector General of Police (IGP)  Sunil Garg, Deputy Inspector General of Police (GPs), both district Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Crime Branch SP said that the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sent a terror alert to Goa Police. The alert stated that according to inputs received from sensitive channels from the MHA there is possibility of terror attack in India.
Goa been put on alert since December 18  following an alert sounded by MHA in view of threat from terror outfits – as part of exercise  to check alertness the police authorities conducted a surprise check  at the Margao Konkan Railway station  to check any explosive material or susceptive article at the Margao KRC railway station. After a detailed check the authorities failed to find any explosive or susceptive material at the station.
