The trio discussed the implementation of a Sister-State programme between Goa and Hawaii at a meeting to increasing relations between the two states and promoting tourism.
Gabbard also met the Governor of Goa Mridula Sinha and discussed the Sister-State programme with her. A tourism department press communiqué says that Sinha was in agreement with such an initiative and promised her support.
During her three-week official trip to India, Congresswoman Gabbard is scheduled to engage with several senior government and industry representatives at New Delhi, Goa, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, to discuss how to advance common global interests, including counter terrorism and military cooperation, harnessing the potential of India’s high-skilled work force via H-1B visas and the promotion of tourism.
Gabbard arrived in India last week following an official invite from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and visited Goa as part of her official trip. In Goa, the US Congresswoman addressed the India Ideas Conclave, and spoke about the teachings of Bhagavad Gita and Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, which have impacted her life.
