CANACONA: In a candid admission, Canacona MLA and Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has acknowledged that Canacona witnessed little development as promised by the BJP, assured to kick start the necessary developmental works soon.
Tawadkar was speaking after hoisting the tri-color and inspecting the Guard of Honour by Canaocna police and school students on the occasion of Liberation Day at the Deputy Collectorate Complex, Chaudi.
“I am fully aware and agree that Canaocna has seen no development as yet, as promised since our government came to power; however, I will do everything possible to get our taluka developed. All the assurances given during the election campaign will be achieved within the next three years,” said Tawadkar.
“Even though the closure of mining has adversely hit the State exchequer, remember that government has neither stopped nor discontinued any schemes beneficial to the public.” Taking a dig at himself on the pending works, Tawadkar informed that construction of works for the proposed Ravindra Bhavan would commence shortly.
CANACONA: Failure to acknowledge Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Mahadev Dessai’s presence at the Goa Liberation Day function in Canacona proved to be a major embarrassment to Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, when Dessai walked out in a huff and left the venue. The incident, which took everyone by surprise, occurred after Dessai was furious with Tawadkar for neither making a reference to the municipal council’s first citizen nor to the civic body in his speech.
