MARGAO: The audit has asked the Varca village Panchayat to tone up the recoveries, while pointing out that the collection of taxes by the panchayat was poor.
The report has sought to know the reason for not exercising the powers and the action taken to recover the amount of Rs 2,66,800 from market fees collection bidder to be intimated to audit.
The report has lamented that in spite of repeated instructions in every audit report, the village panchayat has failed to obtain a surety bond from VP secretary and the same is brought to notice of BDO and director of Panchayats for necessary action.
It has called upon the Panchayat to constitute the supervisory committee (sec 6(2)), vigilance committee (sect 6(3)) and development committee (section6(8)) without further delay.
