PANJIM: The taxi operators have called upon the government to provide them relief as COVID-19 pandemic has hit their business hard. The North and South Goa Taxi Associations have sought from the govt Rs 12,000 support to each operator besides excluding recovery of EMIs and insurance till re-commencement of the business.

In a joint letter to the CM, the association complained about the poor tourist season further marred by COVID-19 pandemic. The lockdown has also affected their movement.
“We request the CM to give allowance to taxi operators, just like the govt has taken the initiative for the daily wagers. They also sought relief from road tax, passenger tax, renewal permit, renewal of authorizations, fitness, PUC, etc.
