PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar has decided to withdraw the technical clearance given to Ira Exotica Pvt Limited for their hotel project in Curtorim, and convert the approval status to an ‘in principle approval’, till the 8 meter access road from the main district road to the property is made.
Reacting to the first part of Herald’s investigation in the controversial Curtorim hotel project, Parrikar said “My noting mentioned that the approval was subject to pre-conditions. Sometimes town planners do not understand notings. I have asked for the report to find out why my instructions were not followed”
Herald had reported that the chief minister had bypassed his Principal Secretary Parimal Rai who had said made reservations about the contradictory notings on file with regard to the slope in the property. His exact words on file were “This needs clarity as it is against RP 2021” He too said that the road access is only proposed and does not exist”
During his conversation with Herald, Parrikar did not dwell of Rai’s objections but stuck to his stand that the road completion was a pre- condition to the issuance of technical clearance which his officer didn’t follow. Incidentally the technical clearance was issued on June 26 and today is August 26.
For two months the technical clearance has existed and a conversion sanad issued changing the status to commercial. So did the entire TCP department from the principal secretary downwards, not figure the chief ministers noting of June 4, which was noted by the principal secretary on June 6 and the technical clearance issued on June 26.
In this entire saga Principal Secretary Rai is sadly caught in a cleft stick. The only man who questioned clearing this project is now being asked how his department followed, what everyone thought was the CM’s orders to grant approval for technical clearance.
