Ten illegal kiosks erected on Tourism Dept land demolished at Mangueshi temple

PONDA: The Goa Tourism Department on Saturday cleared around ten kiosks that were operating on the land owned by tourism Department land near Mangueshi Temple.
A heavy police force was deployed at the demolition spot to maintain law and order. Sources at the Tourism Department said that the department had served notice to some locals who had constructed kiosks in tourism acquired land. 
Around five kiosks were constructed few months ago by some locals and given on rent, while four locals who were operating the kiosks claimed that they were operating them since past eighteen years and their kiosks were also removed without prior notice. 
After the demolition, the affected persons demanded that the government and the tourism department provide them livelihood by providing space to conduct their business and allowing space for kiosks.
