MARGAO: Curtorim legislator Reginaldo Lourenco on Sunday disclosed plans to move a private member’s resolution in the ensuing session of the Goa legislative assembly seeking amendment to the agricultural tenancy laws to protect the interests of tenants.
Speaking at a seminar cum awareness camp of STs held at Raia on Sunday by the Raia village panchayat in association with the directorate of tribal welfare to spread awareness on the various schemes meant for the upliftment of the scheduled tribes, the Curtorim MLA recalled how the interests of the tenants of Tiracol have been compromised after 27 long years.
“The government should protect the interests of the tenants. The government should take the lead by bringing about amendment to the laws”, he later told the media.
