A committee ‘Goechya Kull Mundakaracho Awaz’ consisting of about 20 members was formed to oppose the amendment which was passed in the recent assembly.
A meeting was convened at Baynak Devasthan Temple hall, Kerim-Ponda, where Adv Guru Shirodkar, Vithal Satarkar, Adv Sameer Khedekar and Ramkrishna Jalmi were present.
Adv Shirodkar said the first chief minister Bahusaheb Bandodkar made the Tenancy and Mundkarial Act in the interest of tenants and Mundkars and according to that law, there was the need to resolve all the issues and problems faced by tenants and Mundkars.
A meeting has been convened at Priol society hall on September 27 to oppose the amendment.
“But the BJP government made amendment to the act and because of the new amendment, rights of tenants and mundkars will be removed and they will be deprived of their rights which they had got due to the original act for past several years,” said Adv Shirodkar.
“The Mamlatdar was the final authority in tenancy cases, but due to this amendment his powers will be conferred to the civil court, as also all the cases in Mamlatdar’s court will be decided in the civil court.”
“Further, the tenants and Mundkars are required to file suit against landlords within three years. There are also several shortcomings in the amendment. It is the need of hour to either launch agitation against it or challenge the amendment in the court,” he stated.
Several tenants and Mundkars have also opposed the amendment in the act and resolved to hold awareness all over the State against the amendment. A meeting has been convened at Priol society hall on September 27.
