Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has started land acquisition process and 3,26,946 sq mtrs of land will be acquired from the hilltop of Usap, Sawardhat-Dhangarwada area. The industrial estate is likely to generate employment to a large number of unemployed youth in the area, besides gaining momentum to other development issues.
Latambarcem village is the most backward area of Bicholim taluka and it includes villages like Sawardhat, Dhangarwada, Usap, Kharpal, Wadawal, and Sal. These villages have a large number of unemployed youth either due to lack of educational facilities and government support or due to some other aspects. Most of the youngsters from the area go to jobs at places like Mapusa, Bicholim, Tivim, Colvale, Verna and Pilerne.
Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal said proper infrastructure for industrial estate is needed. Road, water and electricity facilities are must industry is started.
Latambarcem ZP Shilpa Naik said locals will be given due priority once the industrial estate is set up.
Villagers have requested the government to undertake speedy implementation of the procedure required to set up industrial estate to help them earn their livelihood.
