MARGAO: The south Goa district and sessions Nutan Sardessai on Monday granted anticipatory bail to Xavier Fernandes and his wife Jancintha who are accused of committing offence of criminal breach of trust and theft.
They were ordered to be released on individual bond of Rs 10,000 and a surety of like amount and to attend police station as and when called by the inquiry officer for investigation.
Earlier, Public Prosecutor Subash Dessai argued that applicants are involved in offences like cheating, theft and criminal breach of trust and prima facie evidence exist against both in respect of loan repayment done by complainant Sanjay G Naik, Mirabag-Sanvordem to tune of Rs 2.82 lakh. Advocate M D’souza argued that complainant was sarpanch of village panchayat of Sanvordem and that ownership of vehicle still stands in the name of Jancintha as such there is no question of committing theft of the car. As per complaint lodged by Naik his Honda City car was stolen at Cada hall ib Curchorem.
