Thousands of devotees from Canacona and beyond converged at Parthal Jeevottam Math to celebrate Ramnavmi with pomp and religious fervour on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and his wife Asha were among several others who took blessings of his Holiness Shreemad Vidyadhiraj Teerth Swami, who occupied the chariot taken in round in the precincts of Partagal math.
In the morning, cradle ceremony was held as usual practice on the auspicious day.
While delivering his preaching, Swami called upon his disciples to follow the principles of Rama, who is the Truth (Satya) and always prefers to be a man of word (Ekochan), besides adhering to Ram’s other virtues.
Swami, who occupied the biggest of the chariot (Raths) in Canacona in the afternoon, began to pour blessed fruits like bananas, etc, as disciples sprang in the crowd to collect their part of blessed fruits thrown down by Swami.
According to the tradition, sources informed that Swami will come down the chariot only past midnight.
Sources also informed that Partagal math is the only temple in Canacona to have three Chariots used on different occasions, while the chariot on which Swami used on Wednesday is the biggest chariot ever seen in Canacona taluka.
