Pernem: Three bisons (gaurs) which had fallen in the Tillari canal at Hankhane were rescued by the team of Pernem Forest Department headed by Deputy Range Forest Officer Harish Mahale.
On Tuesday morning, at around 9.30 some locals saw the gaurs had accidentally fallen into the canal and were desperately searching for an escape route to get out of the water. They then immediately informed the Forest Department who rushed to the venue and rescued the animals on time.
It may be recalled that a similar incident had taken place six months ago when two male bisons were stuck inside the canal but unfortunately could not be saved as both died immediately after.
Locals have urged the government to make an exit route for the animals to escape if in case they fall into the canal.
