PANJIM: The Panjim police have made further breakthrough in the case of theft from a marriage venue with three more arrests. Rajesh Sisodia and Amit Singh Sisodia, both aged 30 years and father of the juvenile involved in the offense were arrested from their native at Rajgadh in Madhya Pradesh and brought to Goa for probe.
The police, on December 2 had arrested 24-year-old Savant Sisodia for stealing gold ornaments valued at Rs 35 lakh approx from a wedding venue in Miramar on November 26. The minor boy, who was caught on the CCTV cameras decamping with the bag containing the valuables, is still absconding. As such, a senior police officer said, the juvenile’s father has been taken into custody after collecting certain evidences pertaining to the ongoing case.
At the function in Miramar, the minor boy whose identity is still a mystery to the police, is supposedly an uninvited guest. In the CCTV footage, the police found that the boy loiters around the unattended bag containing the ornaments and soon walks out with it as the host families and attendees remain busy.
It is learnt that all the arrested persons have been a part of the gang involved in a series of thefts at wedding venues across Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, etc.
While the valuables are yet to be recovered, police stated that the boy and Savant were seated together at the function until they found an appropriate time to decamp with the valuables. The police team managed to track the identity of Sisodia and traced him at Surat from where he was arrested. The victim family, the officer said, had carried the gold at the wedding venue as they did not want to leave the valuables in their locked house fearing theft.
