MARGAO: The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) has decided to issue stop work order for the work of office block of former TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai over complaints by the landowners. This was decided during the meeting of the authority on Thursday.
The Authority which met on Thursday discussed various matters including a complaint by two individuals and an NGO against the construction of Sardesai’s ground plus one office structure beside his residence in Davondem. The complaint has been filed by Perpetual Soccoro D’Souza, Ana Rita Fernandes and United Goans Foundation against the ongoing construction.
The complainants claim that they have right to the property and the work is happening only on the basis of agreement of sale and Vijai doesn’t have sale deed for the land.
“We have decided to send stop work notice and to refer the same to for legal opinion,” Chairman of SGPDA Wilfred D’Sa said.
Meanwhile, Sardesai has said that he hasn’t hitherto been served with any such show cause notice, “as such, we aren’t aware of its contents, if any. I am out of station and we will respond to it in accordance with law only after receiving the said notice, if any. Prima facie, it only appears to be a political vendetta and nothing else.”
Meanwhile, the PDA has received various complaints of roads being misplaced, wrongly shown or not shown in the proposed plan. “We will refer the complaints of the roads to the board give rethink to the many roads that are erroneously shown in various parts of the proposed plan,” the chairman said.
The SGPDA has also decided not to pay the bills pending to the Contractor of the work of retail fish market as they have during inspection of Retail fish, fruit and vegetable market observed that various amenities like CCTVs and others are not working. The retail fish market was revamped one and a half years ago.
