Tiatrist still lives in the shadow of fear

No action yet against callers who threatened Tousif, but police teams keep watch on his house

MARGAO: This is what it has come to. A tiatrist with police vans around his house as a sign of ostensible protection but with no action against callers who have threatened his life, well-being and his tiatr
The Margao police beefed up security around the residence of director of Akantvadi Goean Naka tiatr director Tousif de Navelim on Monday after he received a threatening call from Bangalore that a group of persons would storm his residence on  Monday morning
Taking cognisance of Tousif’s complaint lodged on Sunday evening, police were deployed at his Navelim residence last night itself as a precautionary measure.  Monday morning saw the police descending at his residence, even as an armed guard kept a close vigil outside as a matter of abundant caution.
The police deployment comes following a threatening call received by the director on Sunday evening to storm his residence on Monday morning, from a   man called Vishal from Bangalore
Tousif on Monday said he has not received any fresh threat from unknown callers on Monday. The police, however, have maintained patrolling outside his residence as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, the tiatr director has said he has not received any notice from any court till date seeking his reply to the petition filed by Ram Sene to stay the staging of the play Akantvadi Goean Naka in the state. “I have consulted my legal counsel and we are working out the legal strategy if at all I receive a notice from the court”, Tousif said.
The Ram Sene had moved the local court here on Saturday seeking a stay on the release of the tiatr, but has so far not got any relief so far. But that has not stopped elements, obviously favourable to the Ram Sene from continuing to threaten the tiatrist.
