PANJIM: The Principle Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Subhash Chandra has informed State Executive Committee (SEC) that Central government has banned tourism activities in tiger reserve areas.

During the SEC meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Parimal Rai, PCCF informed that directions have come from the Central government that no tourism activity to be allowed in tiger reserve areas.
He added that the department has already banned tourism activities in view of the COVID-19 lockdown and the ban continues.
Meanwhile, Secretary Health Nila Mohanan informed that the Health Department has finalised the protocol to deal with requests for inter-State movement on medical emergencies. As planned, the team of health experts would sit in the Collectors’ office to scrutinise the applications.
The GEL has made the necessary changes in the existing application to enable the scrutiny. So far, 16 applications have already been received. Inspector General of Police Jaspal Singh informed that police have conducted several meetings with the local community, including the Mosque Committee to sensitise them about the norms of social distancing and other directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, in view of the upcoming Ramzan period.
