MARGAO: The Tourism Department will be filing an affidavit on the status of the Colva Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) of the newly-installed public toilets before the Bombay High Court at Goa.
This will be based on an inspection done by the officials of the department and that of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) carried out of the STP and surrounding areas. The Tourism Department also has to file a status report on Colva Creek.

This was in connection with the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that was filed by Judith Almeida of Colva Civic and Consumer Forum.
Almeida will also be filing an affidavit in court on June 20. The STP was tested to see its functioning while the inspection team also heard the complaints listed by Almeida.
It may also be recalled that for years there have been complaints about sewage being dumped into the Colva Creek from the neighboring commercial establishments.
Besides confirming the foul odor emitting from the STP, the inspection also noticed the unkempt conditions in the vicinity, dumped garbage, and damaged culverts. Various issues pertaining to Colva were reviewed at this inspection.
