The Agonda–Parvem bridge in Canacona, reportedly in a dangerous condition for the past three years, has once again raised safety concerns after an accident on Sunday night left tourists injured.
Local residents say the bridge has long been unsafe for regular commuters, yet no permanent repairs have been carried out despite repeated appeals. The incident has intensified pressure on authorities to act before a more serious tragedy occurs.

Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) councillor Shubham Komarpant has urged the administration to immediately intervene and implement strong safety measures to protect motorists and pedestrians using the bridge daily. He warned that allowing the bridge to remain in its current condition is putting lives at risk.
Komarpant also expressed concern that the deteriorating structure is damaging Agonda’s hard-earned reputation as a safe and welcoming tourist destination, both for Indian and international visitors.
Locals are now calling for urgent inspection and reinforcement of the bridge to prevent further incidents.
