CUNCOLIM: Traffic congestion on National Highway 17 from Panzorconi to Cuncolim and to Balli has become a daily feature.
One can see long lines of vehicles on NH17 from Panzorconi to Cuncolim during peak hours and on Sundays and holidays.
The bottleneck at Cuncolim market and at Balli junction has become a headache for motorists; exacerbating the situation is the unauthorized bus stopping and haphazard parking. All this is despite there being a strong traffic police presence along the route.
Moreover, despite there being a huge bus stand at Cuncolim, buses avoid entering the bus stand, but pick up and drop passengers on the road. This, it is believed, is the major cause of traffic congestion.
Further, due to the encroachment, NH 17 has become very narrow there is need of road Widening.
