VASCO: Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Tuesday claimed that the rumblers put up by NHAI officials at MES College junction in Zuarinagar won’t serve the purpose and hence NHAI should expedite the process to install traffic signals at this deadly junction.
Speaking to reporters after holding a joint meeting to with officials of Taluka administration and traffic police, Saldanha said, “Today’s meeting was called to ensure that installation of traffic signals at MES junction in Zuarinagar happens on urgent. I firmly believe that this junction has become a very risky junction used by students and residents and thus we have to ensure their safety. Though after citizens protest NHAI put up rumblers but this will not solve the purpose as it has been all over Goa as to how people drive in full speed over the rumblers, thus accident can decrease only after traffic signals are in place” Saldanha said.
Police said that they have already prepared their report and have sent to their higher-ups recommending for a traffic signal at MES college junction.
Mormugao Deputy Collector Mahadev Arondekar said that he too has decided to recommend the same and would submit a report to NHAI for traffic signal at MES college junction.
