Transit remand for Manipur criminals

Judicial magistrate First Class (JMFC) Ponda granted nine-days transit remand to Manipur police of two wanted Manipur-based criminals, police spokesperson Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) Atmaram Deshpande said Wednesday.
Manipur police in association with Goa police, late on Monday night arrested Naorem Monimohan alias Kaboba and Sayeed Rashidulla alias Khamba from Ponda and Anjuna, respectively.
The Manipur police can now reassign the accused-men to Manipur prison during this period, who are presently lodged in Ponda police lock-up. The pair who shifted their base to Goa, 10 and four years ago, respectively has interestingly not committed any offense here.
Dehspande confirmed that though Kaboba and Khamba are wanted criminals of Manipur, there was no record of any offense registered against them in local police stations. The duo, associated with a banned institution – United National Liberation Front of Manipur, is also responsible of blowing up a bridge in Manipur.
The accused-duo is booked for attempt to murder and Prevention of Unlawful Activities of Prevention Act at Wongoi police station.
The state police are yet to find out whether the alleged accused had filled tenant verification forms and whether their credentials were thoroughly checked before and during their stay period here.
