PONDA: Rich tributes were paid to former chief minister late Bahusaheb Bandodkar on his 102nd birth anniversary at Farmagudi-Ponda on Tuesday.
PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar, Minister for Cooperation Deepak Dhavlikar, Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar along with sarpanchas, panchas, former PMC councillors and villagers paid rich tributes to the former chief minister.
“Bandodkar was the leader of the masses and everyone is aware of his contribution in the field of education and in State’s development,” stated the PWD minister after garlanding the statue of Bahusaheb Bandodkar at Bandodkar Park at Farmagudi.
“It is the duty of the people of the State to carry forward Bandodkar’s legacy and to achieve this we all need to be united,” said Dhavlikar. “I have already proposed to set up technical education complex and a mini stadium at GEC Campus at Farmagudi in his name. I have already spoken to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in this regard and I am confident that both the projects will get a green signal,” added Dhavlikar.
Later, former home minister Ravi Naik along with former PMC councillors and students of PES College offered floral tributes to Bahusaheb Bandodkar. “Bandodkar was a visionary and tirelessly worked for the people of Goa and people, especially politicians, should follow in his footsteps,” he said.
On the occasion, prizes were distributed to winners of the 30th Bahusaheb Bandodkar running race organised by JCI Ponda.
