CURCHOREM: The South Goa Progressive Truck Owners’ Association (SGPTOA) has strongly objected to mining companies’ decision to deduct Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) charges directly from the payment made to them.
According to the SGPTOA president Prakash Raut Dessai, the director of Mines and Geology had issued letter last year in August stating that his department will monitor the movement of ore transportation without burdening the owners of the trucks.
“Earlier during the off season we were not paying the VTS charges as they were deducting on a monthly basis but now they are deducting on a yearly basis and as a result we are forced to pay unwanted hike. This is injustice done to us,” Dessai complained and demanded the decision be rolled back immediately in interest of the truckers.
 owners.
It is learnt that around 3000 trucks are involved in ore transportation in South Goa from various mines across the state.
