Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay departed from Chennai for Delhi on Saturday to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a second round of questioning in connection with the Karur stampede tragedy, which claimed 41 lives. The CBI has summoned Vijay as a witness and not as an accused in the case. During the first round of interrogation, which lasted over seven hours, Vijay reportedly stated that he was not responsible for the stampede and said he left the venue early to prevent further chaos. His statement is said to be consistent with testimonies given by senior TVK leaders Bussi Anand and Adhav Arjuna. The CBI is currently verifying his statements with Tamil Nadu police records. Vijay was seen interacting with supporters at the airport before boarding his flight. The probe continues after a special SIT was formed and later taken over by the CBI.
