Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally in Singur on Saturday, launched a sharp attack on Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress, calling its rule a “maha jungle raj” ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections. Modi said Bengal would witness real industrial progress only when its law and order situation improved, asserting that such change was possible only under a BJP government. He urged people to take a pledge for change, saying, “paltano dorkar, chai BJP sorkaar.” Highlighting his government’s initiatives, Modi cited the installation of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s statue at India Gate, recognition of the Azad Hind Fauj, UNESCO status for Durga Puja, and classical language status for Bengali. He accused the Trinamool government of blocking central schemes, claiming this had hurt sectors like fisheries and deprived beneficiaries of crucial support.
