Two absconding accused surrender before court

MAPUSA: Two accused absconding in connection with an attempted murder case that reported in May 2023, surrendered before Mapusa court, on Wednesday.

Mapusa police have arrested Sandeep Megnath Kandolkar and Navnath Megnath Kandolkar, both residents of Vaddem, Succoro. According to SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi, on May 25, Kalidas Rohidas Bordekar, resident of Vaiginwado, Nachinola lodged a complaint stating that the accused persons allegedly assaulted his brother Pundalik Bordekar and his friend Salvador Ferrao at Olaulim, Pomburpha, by using rods, hockey stick, knife etc, causing serious bodily injuries to the two victims.

In this connection, Mapusa Police Station had registered an offence under Sections 341, 504, 324 307, 506 (ii) and 427 R/w 34. 

During the course of investigation, PI Mapusa constituted different teams, which were deputed at Belagavi, Karnataka and Kolhapur, Maharashtra to locate Sandeep and Navnath Kandolkar, who were on the run. 

Meanwhile, the accused approached the District Sessions Court, Panjim, for seeking relief from arrest. However, on perusing the record of investigation, the court rejected the application of the accused seeking anticipatory bail.

Further, both accused approached the High Court of Bombay at Goa to grant them relief from arrest. However, on the date of hearing on perusing the case papers, both accused were forced to withdraw their anticipatory bail application.

Further, both accused surrendered before the JMFC, Mapusa, upon which their custody was taken and placed under arrest. The vehicle and the weapons used in the offence were also seized by the police.
