PONDA: Two brothers sustained leg fractures in a collision between two vehicles at the accident-prone narrow road at Khursakade, Usgao on Wednesday morning.
According to available information, the accident occurred when the car in which two brothers Sakib Muktavar Shaikh (20) and Ayaam Muktavar Shaikh (27) were travelling rammed into the vehicle from the Zonal Agriculture Office which was proceeding towards Panjim.
The impact was such that both Sakib and Ayaam sustained leg fractures and were shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim GMC. Both vehicles were badly damaged in the accident. After receiving the news of the accident, the locals blamed the narrow road at Khursakade which the authorities connected to the four-lane highway at Khandepar.
A local Sandeep Parkar said “This area is a death trap for vehicles. For the past one year, four fatalities were reported at spot and six cattle died on spot at Khursakade. The locals have urged NH authorities to widen the sharp turn connecting the narrow road.”
