Two held for cheating

PONDA: Ponda police on Tuesday arrested two individuals for allegedly cheating Bajaj Finance Ltd by obtaining finance to the tune of Rs 2.50 lakh by producing forged documents to purchase TV sets, refrigerator and other items from Vishwakamal Electricals and Korde Electrical Controls in Ponda.

PONDA: Ponda police on Tuesday arrested two individuals for allegedly cheating Bajaj Finance Ltd by obtaining finance to the tune of Rs 2.50 lakh by producing forged documents to purchase TV sets, refrigerator and other items from Vishwakamal Electricals and Korde Electrical Controls in Ponda. 
The arrested accused are: Mukesh Madukar Sawant (36) from Zorwada-Shapora in Bardez and Amardeep Shivanand Rathod (29) from Gadder Tamshirem, Borim in Ponda
The accused also attempted to cheat the Siolim branch of the finance company by forging documents. They were, however, arrested before succeeding in their design.
According to PSI Rahul Naik, Adesh Chawan, the assistant manager of Bajaj Finance Ltd, complained that the arrested duo obtained Rs 2,48,899 from the company by forging election cards and bank statements, to buy electrical appliances in September this year. Later, they sold the purchased goods to others thereby cheating the company.
Acting on the complaint, PSI Naik alerted the electrical shops across Goa, and after learning that the duo were in the process of buying such goods by similar modus operandi at Siolim, laid trap and arrested them with the help of Anjuna Police.
