PANJIM: The Panjim Police arrested two taxi drivers in a robbery case wherein a casino visitor from Andhra Pradesh was targeted near an off-shore casino office in Panjim early Thursday morning.
The police claimed to have recovered gold and diamond jewelry, valued at Rs 5 lakh and a two-wheeler from the possession of Shaikh Asif, aged 38 years and Taufik Dharwad, aged 27 years who are now in custody.

The accused persons, hailing from Ranchi and Dharwad respectively, are remanded to seven days of police custody.
As per the complaint by Annaram Medak, the accused came on a two-wheeler and took him to a hilly isolated area.
He was robbed and assaulted at knifepoint, according to the complaint filed with the Panjim Police Station.
The police are expected to record statements of the taxi owners and others connected with the case to get more details about the arrested persons.
