PONDA: Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar on Wednesday inaugurated the two-lane bridge at Undir connecting Bandora and Marcaim.
Apprehending disturbance by the locals over the proposed sewerage treatment plant at Undir, police deployed around 100 personnel for the inauguration.
After the inauguration, Dhavalikar said he had initiated sewerage treatment plant at Undir considering large scale pollution of nullahs and in the best interest of people. He said that due to sewerage release, Zuvari River is most polluted from Savordem to Cortalim.
On the occasion, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar said that he may consider shifting the project if the locals opposing the same give alternative place. “Sewerage released in the open is causing soil degradation and pollution of water bodies,” he said.
