Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday evening said that works on phase two of the beautified Vaddem Lake will be taken up after drawing fresh estimates.
Godinho speaking to reporters after an interaction program in ward no 24 said that the phase two will make the Vaddem lake even more beautiful with connection to tidal waves thus resolving many of the issues

” We had drawn the estimates of the second phase but all the figures will have to be revived because previous estimates were taken three years ago and I want to do a much better job there now. For some reason, some people tried to stop the work at Vaddem lake, probably because too many projects were taking place in my constituency. Nevertheless, we will soon get going on phase two soon and this phase will get the Vaddem lake connected to tidal waves with water coming in during high tide and going out during low tide which will clean the lake and prevent fish from dying. We have seen how some people are irresponsible and start dumping sewage in the lake that is visible as a film and leads to the formation of gas during the peak of the summer season. ” said Godinho
Godinho said that he will visit all the municipal and panchayat wards in the Dabolim constituency and have an interaction with the residents to express his gratitude to the people for having elected him for the seventh consecutive time as their legislator
” I want to know what issues are faced by the people and what they feel post-election. As far as ward 24 is concerned, we have desilted the entire Vaddem Nullah ahead of the monsoon to prevent flooding and we have also laid a new water pipeline at the cost of Rs 36 lakhs to resolve the biggest issue of water supply to this area. We have also taken works on the small bridge and we will take repair works on yet another small bridge in this ward and try to resolve maximum issues faced by people and complete their demands in every municipal and panchayat ward in the Dabolim constituency” said Godinho
Social worker Caetano Xavier also thanked Godinho for having desilted the nullah at his own expense instead of taking the Government procedure which would take a longer time.
Sancoale ZP Anita Thorat said that the interaction program had got a tremendous response which went to show Godinho’s popularity amongst the residents
” Godinho has taken up a lot of development in this area, even at the municipal level and some even at his own cost and this is why we have such a large gathering of people in this meeting,” said Thorat
