Vijai Sardesai Slams Goa Film Festival 2025 Criteria, Demands 85% Quota for Goans

During Zero Hour in the Goa Legislative Assembly, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai strongly criticized the eligibility criteria of the Goa State Film Festival 2025, calling it faulty and outdated. Sardesai objected to the current allocation, which reserves only 15% participation for Goans while allowing 85% for outsiders.

Raising the issue on the floor of the House, Sardesai urged Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to reverse the ratio, demanding that 85% of the slots be reserved for Goan filmmakers and only 15% for non-Goans.

“The festival is meant to promote Goan talent, not sideline it,” Sardesai said, expressing concern that the current framework undermines local artists and defeats the purpose of a state-sponsored cultural event.

He called on the government to immediately review and revise the notification, ensuring that the festival truly benefits and showcases Goa’s vibrant film industry and local creative talent.
