PANJIM: The BJP national president Amit Shah said his party does not believe in vote bank politics.
“We don’t see voters as minority or majority as we don’t believe in vote bank appeasement,” Shah said here.
Shah said the BJP government has implemented several schemes since coming to office in 2014 and it has also benefited the minorities.
“If we have given gas, toilet and light it has also gone to minority. We did not differentiate,” he said.
Asked about violent incidents against minorities, he said, “There might be a few incidents but we do not divide voters into minority and majority.”
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar intervening said there is no issues with minorities. “If you see out of 13, seven of my MLAs are from the minority community,” Parrikar said.
When pointed out to the resentment in Salcete, he said, “Salcete is not minority but a part of Goa. There is a section which does not stand by us as they cannot digest for having lost out inspite of supporting Congress”.
I don’t read them as minority but as Congress supporters,” he said.
